Aim

Highfield Hall — a 200‑year‑old community home built from an old farm, saved in 1979, now needing urgent support to stay standing.

Who We Are

Highfield Hall Community Association is a volunteer‑led charity founded in 1979 by local residents who believed Farnworth deserved a place where everyone could belong. For 45 years, our team — made up of volunteers, trustees, community leaders, and local families — has worked tirelessly to keep Highfield Hall open, welcoming, and thriving.

We run activities for children, adults, older people, families, and community groups every single day. We are proud to be a safe, warm, inclusive space that supports wellbeing, learning, connection, and community spirit.

Our building is more than bricks and mortar — it is one of Farnworth’s oldest surviving structures, originally part of Highfield Hall Farm, built between 1780 and 1830. For over 200 years, it has been a place where neighbours support neighbours.

We are determined to protect it.

Our Vision

Our vision is simple:

To preserve Highfield Hall as a thriving, safe, accessible community home for generations to come.

We want to honour the legacy of the founders who transformed an old farm building into a community centre in 1979 — and ensure that future generations continue to benefit from everything Highfield Hall offers.

We believe in:

  • A community space that is open to everyone

  • A building that reflects Farnworth’s heritage

  • A centre that supports wellbeing, learning, and connection

  • A future where Highfield Hall continues to grow, improve, and serve

This building has stood for over 200 years. With your help, it will stand for 200 more.

Why We Need Your Support

After decades of constant use — and centuries of life before that — the downstairs floor has begun to show serious signs of decay. This is urgent work. If we do not act now, the damage will worsen and could threaten the future of the building.

We are a small charity with limited funds. We rely on donations, fundraising, and community support to keep the building safe and operational.

This repair is essential. This repair is costly. This repair cannot wait.

How We Will Use the Money Raised

Every pound donated will go directly towards:

  • Urgent structural repairs to the downstairs floor

  • Specialist assessments to ensure the building remains safe

  • Materials and labour needed to stabilise and restore the affected area

  • Protective measures to prevent future deterioration

  • Preserving the building’s historic features while making it safe for modern use

We are committed to full transparency. We will share updates, progress photos, and cost breakdowns as the work begins.

Your support will help us:

  • Keep the building open

  • Protect a 200‑year‑old piece of Farnworth’s heritage

  • Ensure our community continues to have a safe, welcoming home

  • Honour the legacy of the volunteers who built this charity in 1979

Together, We Can Save Highfield Hall

Your donation — no matter the size — will make a real difference. You are not just helping repair a floor. You are helping protect a community’s home, history, and future.
