Sansara is an award-winning chamber choir uniting some of the UK's finest young singers: help them release their debut recording!

"From the moment I first heard Sansara, I thought this might be the a cappella sound of the future." - Peter Philips, Director of the Tallis Scholars & Sansara's Artistic Patron

"I have followed the recent deserved successes of the new choir Sansara. I hope that their recording session goes very well and I am delighted that they will include a work of mine in this project. I look forward eagerly to hearing the results of their hard work."  - Sir James MacMillan

Our story...

Winners of the 2015 London International A Cappella Choir Competition, Sansara is an innovative chamber choir that brings together many of the UK's finest young musicians. We are passionate about providing opportunities for young professional singers, aspiring conductors and composers.

After two successful years of performing, we are in the process of making our first CD. Between the 21st-23rd of June 2016 we recorded fifteen pieces in the chapel of Merton College, Oxford with Convivium Records.

The repertoire explores musical responses to human conflict and resolution. The first half of the disc spans music from the past 500 years, including works by Gombert, Byrd, Bach and Holst. The latter half is comprised of music by contemporary composers: we are excited to be recording pieces by Sir James MacMillanGabriel JacksonMalcolm Archer and Cheryl Frances-Hoad, alongside new compositions by our Associate Composers Oliver Tarney and Marco Galvani.

A full list of repertoire is available here.

We need your help!

Our costs include hiring a producer and engineer for three days, hiring the recording venue as well as paying and accommodating our singers. Having recorded the music, we now need to meet the cost of producing and publicising the finished product. Thus far, we have raised around £3500 from fundraising events and generous donors, but we are still some way short of the funds needed to release the disc.

Now we need your help to bring this project to fruition.
