To fund the annual Sandbach Day of Dance which is a celebration of the diverse styles of Morris traditions in the UK
The Sandbach Day of Dance is a traditional festival of Morris and other folk dance held annually in Sandbach's Market Square and town centre, but it is currently facing uncertainty due to a recent withdrawal of funding and support from the Sandbach Town Council. We the organisers are in dispute with the Town council, which made incorrect allegations of financial irregularities (for which they have apologised) and inappropriate use of face paint, which the organisers strongly refute. Both the 2024 & 2025 event were fully compliant with the Joint Morris Organisations stance regarding skin tone face paint and the funding withdrawal was unreasonable.
Sandbach Day of Dance includes Border Morris, Clog Step, Cotswold Morris, Longsword, Molly, Mumming, North West Morris, Rapper Sword dancing. The event spans a weekend with the main dancing taking place on the Saturday
It aims to celebrate and showcase the widest variety of Morris and traditional dance forms from around the country.
The event is a free, public festival held in Sandbach's Market Square and town centre
We seek to raise £6,000 to fund an improved, larger day of dance in 2026 and 2027 following the withdrawal of funding by the Town council. We are inspired by the fantastic support we have received from the residents and businesses of Sandbach and further afield.
The £6000 will not only fund the next two years festivals but also support the newly formed Sandbach Morris group based in the town.
