On 3rd September I'm doing the full 26 mile Cornwall Coast Mighty Hike to raise money for Macmillan.
On 3rd September I'm hiking a 26 mile marathon along the Cornish coast to raise money for Macmillan. Will you sponsor me?

The brilliant people at Macmillan are there for the 3 million people in the UK living with cancer.
One of those people is my sister.
Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is the name for abnormal cells or tumours that start in the womb from cells that would normally develop into the placenta. They are extremely rare but can happen during or after pregnancy. In my sister's case, she developed GTD after a molar pregnancy miscarriage last year.
Macmillan have been there for my sister throughout her cancer journey, through every trip from Cornwall to Charing Cross, every round of chemotherapy and every other time she's needed support. As I write this, she's still on that journey.
There's a feeling of helplessness when someone you love has cancer. You can't fix it or take it away for them, no matter how much you want to. So I've decided to take that energy and focus it into this challenge, giving something back to an organisation that has been a light in the darkness.

After a decaf coffee and a rushed mouthful of breakfast, I'll leave the starting point at 8:10am. Over the course of the next 10ish hours, I'll complete the Cornwall Coast Mighty Hike. The 26 mile route will take me through the fishing port of Padstow, up some pretty steep coastal paths, along clifftops to the finish line in Newquay. Hopefully it'll be glorious weather. Realistically, there'll probably be gale force winds and horizontal rain. Or at the very least, some Cornish mizzle.

There’s around 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and over 360,000 more are diagnosed every year. Right now, millions of people with cancer are counting on Macmillan for physical, financial and emotional support. They won’t settle for anything other than the best possible support for people living with cancer. They really do whatever it takes.
In the last two years, Macmillan have faced a huge drop in income as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Because 97% of their work is funded by donations from the public, they need our support now more than ever.

The chances are that you or someone you love will also be affected by cancer in their lifetime. If that happens, it's comforting to know that Macmillan will be there.
If you'd like to sponsor a mile, simply click the 'Donate now' button on this page. I'm incredibly grateful for every pound and hope you'll consider donating. Bring on the blisters!
Thank you,
Sami
