Aim
This appeal is to fund the Saltash May Fair, Saltash Regatta and the Saltash Christmas Festival. Without your support these will not happen.
All the Saltash events rely heavily on volunteers who give hours and hours of their time to put on these free-to-attend days of entertainment, with the focus on community engagement opportunities and community cohesion.
Getting to know your neighbours, meeting with your friends and supporting local businesses and services is a key focus. Our community has a great deal to offer; from reducing isolation to activities that promote wellbeing. We actively promote all these services at our events. We are expertly backed up by Diverse Events CIC; Aaron keeps us in order with the legal bits, but essentially, every chair that is put out, every band that is booked, and every parade and fun run that is marshalled, is organised by a volunteer resident.
Some have been doing this for many years and have seen the costs go up, the sponsorship go down and the red tape increase. We are also responsible for raising every penny the events cost. The Santa Fun Run attracts over 200 runners and brings so many visitors into our town, it is or all ages and abilities and is one of the main events, leading to Santas on bikes - a spectacle in ts own right!
Each year we need to find over £50,000 from scratch to make these events happen. We are kindly supported by various grant funders, and a limited amount of commercial income, but this is only a very small percentage, the rest is down to the kind support of small businesses who we ask to give us money. It is exhausting and can take the fun away from the organisation. This year the number of volunteers is down to only 7, this is too much work. Thankfully we are supported by the Tamar trotters to ensure the fun run , 5 k and half marathon are well organised and attended.
If every family in Saltash donated £5, we would meet our target.
We rely on the Redeemer church to launch the amazing cardboard boat race, adding the paddle board relay and treasure hunt to the fun at Regatta.
Please help us and we shall keep doing what we do and do it better. If we can reach a percentage of our target quickly, we may be eligible for match funding.
We cannot lose the legacy of community events, for your children and your children's children.

The Saltash Fun Runs; the Saltash Half Marathon; the Saltash 5k; the Picnic in the Park; the Christmas Lantern Parade; Wellness & Wellbeing Activities; the Regatta Paint Party, the Cardboard Boat Race; the Wild Swim; Dog Shows; Gig Racing; Sailing; Live Music; Food Stalls; Street Markets; Fireworks; Youth Village; and of course the coming together of our community and opportunities to volunteer.
Some of these events have a history of more than 180 years, let's not end them now due to lack of support.
