Aim: Help me raise the £5,000 deposit so I can stand in the Tees Valley Mayoral election on 2nd May 2024.
Help me stand in the election to become Tees Valley Mayor.
“I love where I live and I want to see it thrive. I ask a lot of questions; I do this because I care about an awful lot of things.”
Having me as your candidate for Tees Valley Mayor, on behalf of the Green Party, provides an opportunity to show exactly what the Tees Valley is capable of when led by someone who cares, listens and represents the best interests of the whole population and is not controlled by central government.
I will bring transparency, honesty and integrity coupled with an unrivalled determination to create a future for the Tees Valley which we all want to see and experience.
“I’ve spoken to so many people who want a passionate dedicated person with fresh ideas and a new approach”
Greens are standing and winning all over the North East and working alongside people like you to solve problems. We now have 19 councillors in the region. People have lost trust in current politics - I CAN win this election!
People are already backing me, will you?! Help me to stand up for the Tees Valley!
To stand in this election requires candidates to pay a £5,000 deposit. The North East Green Party is working to help me raise this so that I can fight this election with the aim of becoming Tees Valley Mayor and working for a fairer, greener Tees Valley. Anything above £5,000 will be put towards funding the campaign.
In an election campaign, boots on the ground are just as important as money. If you would like to be kept up to date with the campaign or volunteer your time please sign up here
As your Green Tees Valley Mayor, I will use my power and funding to create sustainable improvements that will benefit all the people in the area.
The Tees Valley deserves better.
The Tees Valley has some of the highest rates of child poverty, critical illness and crime in this country. We have seen hundreds of millions of pounds spent on large schemes with little benefit for ordinary people - this is our money, we need projects that will benefit all of us!
We have a history of heavy industry which has forged proud, hard-working communities.
We have incredible beaches and landscapes which stretch for miles, providing unrivalled opportunities for tourism and leisure. We have ancient woodlands, rolling hills and iconic rivers. I guarantee a bright, healthy future for all in the Tees Valley, whilst ensuring the changes required are sustainable and work in harmony with our life-supporting natural environment.
The Tees Valley Combined Authority Mayor represents the people of all five Tees Valley unitary authorities - Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton-on-Tees. The Mayor's powers cover transport, planning, skills, regeneration, and adult education, it is critical that these are used to get the best for all residents and businesses in the Tees Valley.
I don't have a wealthy national party or big donor funders; but I know there are masses of people who are ready for a new era of transparency, honesty and integrity in the Tees Valley. These attributes are missing from current politics. This has diminished trust in those who have been elected to serve the people of our region (and beyond).
By supporting this fundraising campaign, you can help me create a new approach to politics and economic regeneration in the North East. One that works for all people: more equality means we can all thrive. Problems should be solved at the root cause, while caring for the natural environment that sustains us.
I will bring transparency, honesty and integrity coupled with an unrivalled determination to create a future for the Tees Valley which we all want to see and experience.
So who is Sally Bunce?
I'm a hard-working single parent. I spent 17 years as a frontline police officer before resigning 7 years ago to support my children. Since that time I've worked as a self-employed gardener, cleaner and part-time barmaid. After moving to East Cleveland 6 years ago I joined a lifeboat as a volunteer crew person. I trained as a marine mammal medic and began teaching about ocean pollution in schools and clubs. I am currently a volunteer with Middlesbrough Women's Street Watch team and have previously volunteered with a charity supporting adults with mental health and addiction problems.
My policing skills have been put to good use during the past two years while working alongside local fishers, scientists, universities and politicians to uncover the truth behind the mass marine die-off along our coastline.
I have been involved with many other local campaigns supporting individuals and groups fighting to safeguard their communities. Time and again I have witnessed profits for already wealthy businesses and organisations being prioritised over the health and wellbeing of local people, small businesses and our fragile environment and wildlife.
Be the change you want to see. And help me to stand up for the Tees Valley!
Thank you
Sally Bunce
Should we fail to raise enough for the mayoral election deposit, your money will still be put to good use - to support Green Party campaigns across Tees Valley.
P.S. Because we're a political party
We're required to run electoral register checks for people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general campaigning funds.
