Who are we?
We are Grant Steedman and William Horsburgh from Bonnyrigg, Midlothian. We are the partners of the newly established business B.O.S.S Garden Rooms. Between us we have over 30 years experience in the construction industry, primarily house building. We specialise in expertly crafted outdoor pods.
What are we doing?
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognised the importance of helping people adapt to the changes we have all had to face. Having seen on the news how badly care homes have been affected in particular, we saw an opportunity which would enable us to help bring families together in a private, enclosed, safe area, by providing a visitor pod within the care home grounds at Archview Lodge Care Home, Newmills Road, Dalkeith. As this is a new business project we are donating our first pod completely free of charge - allowing us to give something back to the community, whilst demonstrating the skills we have to offer.
What difference will this make?
This is going to make a huge difference to the residents and their family members who have faced months of not being able to see their loved ones following COVID-19. With separate entrance doors for both residents and visitors to the pod, separated by a clear, removable perspex frame this will be a completely safe space for everyone. Usable all year round, this will provide a place where families can just be together again with peace of mind.
How can people help?
All monies raised will be used to purchase materials and furniture for the build. Grant and William are providing all labour costs completely free of charge. With your support, together we can make a positive difference to the lives of local families, whilst giving a little something back to our local community.
Quotes from May McCondichie (Care Home Manager)
"Over the last 4 months, the residents have had no visitors. The pod is going to be amazing, it's going to make such a difference. It's going to mean safe visiting for the residents and their loved ones."
"At the moment visiting has to be in the garden - that will be for the foreseeable future. It will be great with the pod - visits will be warm and dry and can be used all season round."
Finally....
We are aiming to raise £6,000 for the cost of the materials for the project. We will continue to update our crowdfunding page as we progress with the build. All costs involved will be fully transparent allowing you to see what your contribution has gone toward. Please support us because these families deserve to be able to come together again, following what has no doubt been a difficult period.
