Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom
I want to make a project as unfiltered and insane as possible free from constraints.

- SAFARI is the kind of Scottish film that feels like it has been waiting to happen. A brutally funny, wildly unpredictable collision of documentary filmmaking, Glasgow street culture, crime and absurdist comedy, it follows Patrick, an overly earnest filmmaker determined to make a serious film about poverty and drug dealing, as his attempt at social observation takes him deeper and deeper into a world he clearly does not understand.

- What begins with the awkwardness of a filmmaker trying to manufacture authenticity gradually mutates into something far more dangerous, as Pa and his camera become embedded with JP and his circle, where the line between documentary, performance and reality starts to disappear. The comedy is savage because the characters never think they're being funny; the thriller works because beneath every ridiculous exchange there is the genuine possibility that someone could lose control. SAFARI is a genre film that refuses to behave like one — part crime movie, part mockumentary, part social satire, part Glasgow fever dream — but ultimately something that sits outside those labels.

- It has the rawness of real life, the anarchic energy of underground cinema and the confidence to find beauty, absurdity and danger in contemporary Scotland without turning the country into poverty pornography. This is cutting-edge Scottish cinema with its teeth out: filthy, funny, frightening, visually alive and completely unafraid to make the audience uncomfortable.

- The ambition is not simply to make another Scottish crime film; it is to make a film that feels so specifically Scottish that it becomes universal, a savage, hilarious piece of cinema that could only have come from here, but that audiences anywhere in the world would recognise instantly. SAFARI wants to be the film people weren't expecting Scotland to make, and then wonder why nobody made it before.
This is Man Bites Dog having a baby with Sweet Sixteen that has another baby with Training Day.
