If we raise more than £500, more primary schools around the rest of the UK will benefit from having these books.
Hello! I’m Anna and I work for a fundraising agency in Plymouth called Working For Wildlife. We work on behalf of 4 different charities all who care greatly about wildlife, trees, plants and the planet.
Over the past year through various mediums; social media, tv programmes, adverts, news stories and through the charities we work alongside, we have become very aware of the growing problem we have with plastic and in particular, plastic in the ocean.
Recently we stumbled across ‘The Wildtribe Heroes’ a unique series of books designed to teach primary school children about the problems of plastic in the ocean and how they can fix it. Having bought one myself for my daughter, I started following Ellie’s (the author) journey on social media which led me to her website where she explained that with just a few pounds, we could get these books into local primary schools.
The Books
Nelson’s Dangerous Dive, Marli’s Tangled Tale and Duffy’s Lucky Escape, otherwise known as The Wildtribe Heroes are a collection of gentle and engaging true stories about animals that find themselves in trouble when their lives are affected by plastic in the oceans.
Already used by thousands of schools in other regions around the UK, the books have reached an unbelievable 800,000 children so far, inspiring them to take action by organising litter picks and beach cleans, setting up recycling systems, and using their persuasive writing skills to write letters to local businesses and the wider community to reduce their use of single use plastic.
Here is a link to a clip from ITV who recently featured the books.
Our aim
We’re hoping to raise funds to help Ellie reach a few more primary schools within the mid south Devon area, and raising awareness nationwide. It's so important that the next generation grow up understanding the problems we are facing. To have the resources to teach them where we are going wrong and what they can do to make it right, is essential.
Thank you very much for reading and we hope you can help us to achieve our goal!
