Aim
Ryhall Bowls Club is raising funds to renovate our bowling green. This is the start of a wider project to rejuvenate and grow our club.
Who are we?
We're a long-standing, volunteer-led bowls club, deeply rooted in the community of Ryhall and its surrounding areas.
Recently registered as a charity, the club's core aim is to promote community participation in healthy recreation. Lawn bowls offers a unique opportunity for social interaction and gentle exercise, adaptable for individuals of all ages and abilities. Our welcoming and supportive club encourages novices and experienced players alike: with coaching for newcomers and key equipment available to loan, anyone may join in, at minimal cost and regardless of fitness.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Once a thriving club with three successful teams, over the years many senior supporters retired from active participation and membership numbers dwindled. As the finances became severely stretched, the club’s infrastructure – the green, the clubhouse and the rest of the site – started to deteriorate and have only survived due to the valiant efforts of our volunteers.
Currently, the club's annual income won't stretch to investment in the necessary equipment to renovate the infrastructure. This is holding back the growth of the club and the range of activities we can offer, both of which are essential to ensure that the club has a long future.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Despite the dedication of our volunteers, who’ve worked tirelessly to nurture it, the threat of losing our bowling green looms large if we don’t address the urgent need for a new mowing system. We’ve identified specific new equipment to dramatically improve the condition of our green. Its safer, environmentally sound and handles easily, to enable more members to participate in the green maintenance. With your support, we can restore our green to its former glory, giving our members and their guests a playing area to feel proud of.
Community impact
We see this not only as an infrastructure improvement project, but as the first, essential stage in a programme for growth and outreach. By restoring the club’s infrastructure, we'll be better placed to attract new members and ensure the long-term viability of the club.
Our outreach programme will target not only the older members of our community, who’ve traditionally made up the bulk of the club's membership, but also younger people in and around Ryhall, for whom the current recreational offering is limited. We want them to be part of the wider regeneration of our club.
