On the 9th December 2024 we'd raised £571 with 28 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
RYA Northern Ireland is the National Governing Body for sailing, boating and windsurfing in Northern Ireland.
Our programmes help the growth of these activities across the country from a grassroots level, to elite performers aspiring to reach The Olympic Games.
We're crowdfunding to help develop the sport of sailing in Northern Ireland
The money raised will go directly towards funding RYA Northern Ireland projects. These projects range from giving people the opportunity to sail for the first time, to helping elite athletes to realise Olympic dreams.
On top of this, any money made from the 50th Anniversary Raffle, will go towards funding the Individual Grant Award Programme. This will aid the development of an individual within the sport through funding courses, equipment and specialist training. We are particularly keen to support those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, those with a disability and women and girls. Funding will be prioritised to these groups but should not stop others applying if a specific need can be demonstrated.
RYA projects such as Women On Water and Sailability have been instrumental in increasing the diversity of the Northern Irish sailing community. Year on year, our projects are seeing more people getting the opportunity to experience the joy of sailing.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
