To give exciting, challenging and healthy programme teaching life skills to young people aged 6 to 14 years in safe and fun environments.
Scouting has been in the Village of Yetminster for over 75 years and for the past 35 years has been held at its current location and old World War 2 Army hut that was taken from a nearby ex Army camp and rebuilt by parents and friends to provide a base for scouting to continue.
Over the years the building has been improved and renovated by previous adult volunteers and parent.
Over the past 12 months due to Covid-19 face to face meetings have been very limited and much effort and time has been given in making it safe to open for the young people and wider community. Whilst not in use Adult Volunteer Leaders have been providing virtual meetings once a week to provide exciting and fun activities to the beavers, cubs and scouts.
The vision is to raise funds to improve the building, this may mean replacing it with a new building which will provide a more environmentally friendly, economical, friendly and comfortable meeting place for the Group and other community groups using it.
The money raised through this project will assist greatly in the continued running of the Group and the initial planning of the project in order that it can be commenced.
Scouting has continued through the toughest of recent times and we want to ensure it continues long into the future and give it the potential to expand and give more young people in the local community the choice to join the Group.
We aim to provide all our members with their own personal scouting handbook to assist their journey.
