I am raising money for a charitable cause that is very important to me so please donate and help me reach my target in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK.
Learning about my mum's dementia diagnosis three years ago was one of the worst moments in life. To see one of the people closest to you progressively lose a part of themselves bit by bit, day by day, all whilst you are helpless to prevent this is indescribable for how sickening and helpless you feel. With dementia being one of the few diseases we currently have no way of stopping, it leaves families like mine at loss of what you can do to when facing this horrific inevitably of a loved one ultimately losing all sense of who they are.
It has made me determined to do whatever I can to ensure others in the future won't have to experience this dreadful gradual lose of someone they care about and feeling of powerlessness to prevent it. Through the work being done by Alzheimer's Research, there is hope for those in the future that a dementia diagnose to not be seen as an irreversible decline and end of a once enjoyable life. I am therefore running the Nottingham Half Marathon this September to help raise awareness and money for the work this organisation does to aid in this cause and battle for a cure in a future free of dementia.
Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated.
Thank you.
