Running Leeds 10k to raise money for SHABANG!

I will be running Leeds 10k on Sunday 23rd June, 2024 to try and raise some money for SHABANG! Inclusive Learning.

SHABANG! is a small local charity based in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield.

Shabang Inclusive Learning is a child and young person-centred organisation where the needs of participants with additional needs are paramount to their provision. A place, both real and virtual, where participants feel valued, included and supported. A place of empathy, understanding and love where participants can explore and develop their potential whatever their abilities. A place where participants are not disabled by the physical environment or preconceptions of ability.

My daughter Phoebe was born in 2021 and she has Down Syndrome. Shabang has changed our lives! It’s a place where parents of children with additional needs can meet each other and it’s a place for children to be themselves and thrive in doing so in such a loving and accepting environment. 

Phoebe loves attending SHABANG! And so do I!! Along with lots of other people who have additional needs and their families. It’s a complete safe haven where children & families can come together as part of a mutually supportive & creative network.
