I am raising money for "The People's Recovery Project" a charity that focuses on sustainable recovery froaddiction and homelessness.
Back in 2023 I had a stable and well paid job at TikTok, when the agency I was renting my flat from surprised us with a £600 rent increase. At the time, despite my favorable circumstances I experienced 2 months of couch-surfing at different friends' houses until I found my own home. In simple terms: I was homeless. I was lucky enough to have a good job and a fantastic support system willing to be there for me. But it was an incredibly destabilising and traumatic experience. That's why, I want to help others in a much less favourable situation than I did.
When I found The People's Recovery Project last year, I immediately knew I wanted to run for them at the Hackney Half Marathon, and it was such an amazing experience that I am doing it again! The labour they do is immense and they have already successfully helped 7 people.
The People’s Recovery Project is an innovative charity that seeks to make recovery achievable and sustainable for people experiencing homelessness and addiction. The project is designed to create an alternative pathway and package of support for people in this situation to access residential treatment: co-designed and co-delivered by community members with lived experience.
