Running to all 19 Ipswich Town Premier League away games in the 26/27 season to raise money for Ipswich Town Foundation. £19k for 19 games.
Hey! I’m raising money for people in the community at both ends of life’s journey - kids getting the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sport and engagement, and older folks having the audience and interaction that their experiences and stories deserve, things that Ipswich Town Foundation deliver on.
I played football every day as a kid, but now that I’m 30 and have yet to receive a professional contract (a lack of footballing talent will do that), I’ve finally given up on the dream of being a professional footballer so I’ve become a cliche over the past 6 years and turned to running.
Starting from Portman Road, I’ll be running across England over the next 9 months to each away ground before kick-off on the day Ipswich play there. It will be at least 2,983 miles, (+ extra through getting lost) with the shortest run being Tottenham at 71 miles in November and the longest being Newcastle at 265 miles in April.
If the money raised through this helps a child make a friend at a Foundation run football camp, or allows an older person someone to share football stories with, or inspire a few people to get active and healthier around the town, then it’ll be worth it. I’m Ipswich born and bred, and there’s a lot of great people in the town and county of Suffolk - no one should feel lonely!
