HELP US take Rum Bridge to the next level; HELP YOURSELF to years of family holidays, exclusive fishing permits and other unique rewards
Thanks for your interest in the Rum Bridge Glamping & Fishing Complex.
Rum Bridge Glamping & Fishing is offering a unique opportunity to help fund the development of our boutique ‘offgrid’ glamping and fishing site in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Show your support for this exciting project and you could benefit from a range of exclusive rewards - including everything from discounted stays to one-of-a-kind fishing experiences and larger group gatherings. By investing in our project, you'll not only be supporting the creation of an exceptional destination for glamping and fishing enthusiasts but will be part of a community of like-minded individuals who share our passion for nature and the great outdoors.
This is us: https://rumbridge.co.uk/

We (Steve and Carol Calder) acquired the (then derelict) county wildlife site that was to become the Rum Bridge glamping complex and fishery in 2018.
Today, the complex comprises 12 permanent glamping pods, lakeside cabins, a gypsy carriage, and bell tents (each sleeping up to six people).

This idyllic rural retreat offers families, couples and anglers an affordable yet revitalising escape from the stresses and rigours of modern life, in a choice of lakeside and pet friendly accommodation, tucked away amid the trees in an established County Wildlife Area.
In addition, a newly created meadow with river views offers dedicated space for up to four additional bell tents, to accommodate corporate events and larger family groups.
And the adjacent fishing lakes attract anglers from miles around, being home to specimen sized carp (40lbs+), crucians (3lbs+), tench (9lbs+), roach (2lbs+), pike, perch and rudd.

Though offgrid, the pods and cabins benefit from a limited but dependable solar electrical supply, suitable for lighting, device charging, etc.; and guests are further served by an onsite food concession and extensively stocked fishing tackle shop.

COACHING AND OPEN DAYS:
SUPPORTING THE NEXT GENERATION OF ANGLERS | PROMOTING BETTER MENTAL HEALTH
We are committed to promoting the proven mental health and well being benefits that angling offers to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Accordingly, we run regular (free) ‘Get into fishing’,‘Family Fishing’ and ‘Take a friend fishing’ events, and a summer school, in conjunction with a small team of professional angling coaches.
Our open days attract participants from the local community and beyond - from complete newcomers to the sport aged 4 and up, to returners aged 80+. And all tuition, bait and tackle and even temporary rod fishing licences are provided at no charge.
We also offer one-to-one coaching sessions with (amongst others) younger people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours, the majority of whom have gone on to develop an interest not just in angling, but in the wider natural environment.
Other ad hoc events which we have run previously, and hope to replicate in future, include coaching days in conjunction with a crime reduction and a drug rehabilitation charity, and special needs schools (via the Fishing for Schools initiative).

Laura Stones We have just got back from a lovely stay in Hazel. Very welcoming, fantastic facilities loved hiring a fire pit and cook tent.Thank you very much

Natalie Louise Bruce I am sitting here now just outside the little baby bell tent enjoying the last night of my 2 night stay here .. although short I have very much felt at home and very comfortable here in this quiet little nook. I have made friends with the ducks and chickens and spoken with the guinea-pigs and I was very lucky to meet the gorgeous pups Boots and Ninja. RumBridge Glamping for me has been the perfect little hideaway. Clean, super friendly and very comfortable
Jenny Hush O'Dell Great facilities, helpful and nice owners who go out of their way. Definitely be back again, longer and more of us! Thank you.

NEXT STEPS...
Having developed the site from its original derelict state, stewarding it through the pandemic and two lockdowns, and growing the business to its current profitable level - with more than half our guests re-booking (many,multiple times) - we are now seeking funding to:
complete work on the new river-view meadow area (which has been severely delayed by the recent near-monsoon conditions);
link the two lakes, to create one large multi-species fishery;
build a permanent manager’s lodge to enable 24/7 support and security, all year round; and
increase occupancy levels from a post-COVID 45% to an 'industry standard' 70%.
