Rugeley Rifle Club - Targetting Success for 2021

Aim

Raising funds to support members in this time of financial uncertainty due to Covid-19, and making it affordable to those new to our sport.

We are hoping to raise £10,000 by August 22nd

(It was August 31st but we started earlier)

We want to support our members, some of who are facing financial uncertainty due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We also want to attract more newcomers to the sport of Precision Target Shooting. To do this as well as securing funds to ensure the efficient running of the club, we are offering a range of rewards in return for donations.
To help existing members financially, we are offering renewal of their membership at a 25% reduction. We also offer reductions to trial memberships for newcomers.

There are also a few low cost draws you can enter to win prize vouchers.

If we reach our target, we will also set aside a fund to support members and newcomers who may be struggling financially to meet the costs involved in their shooting training. This fund will provide 12 free trial sessions and continuation memberships as appropriate.

About Rugeley Rifle Club

Based in Wharf Road Rugeley WS15 1BL, the club has excellent range facilities:-

Our Ranges

1. The 25. This is our Indoor 25 yard range with 14 firing points (7 downstairs and 7 upstairs) for .22 prone, 3 position and Bench rest .22 Rimfire.

2. The 50/100. This is our outdoor 7 firing points range for our more experienced shooters to shoot 50metres or 100yard targets. 

3. The 10. This is the indoor 4 lane 10metre airgun range. Currently being renovated to include 4 Sport Quantum 10 electronic targets.

4. The 10/50. This is the latest addition to our facilities and offers 4 lane 10meter Airgun shooting with electronic tablets displaying your shots. Then opening the doors converts it to a 3 lane outdoor 50metre range. The room is also used as a training classroom for running courses and training sessions.

Inclusive and Accessable

Members at Rugeley Rifle Club range in age from 8 to 88 (ish) and cover a wide range of abilities. We are an official Disability Hub Club and will strive to meet the needs of every person.

Target shooting is one of the most disabled friendly of all competitive sports and disciplines. No matter what disability you have, you will not find it a bar to taking part in target shooting disciplines and competitions offered at our club.

Instruction andCoaching

We have a training team of Instructors, Club Coaches and County Coaches who provide the club's training from beginners to those who aspire to represent their country. 

The training we provide is responsible for maintaining club memberships by helping members to maximise their achievements and take pleasure in their sport. 

We teach young people  to respect firearms and safely use them on the ranges.

Our Guns

We have a range of club guns for members to use until such time as they decide to buy their own. In fact we advise not to commit to any purchase until you have tried and tested the different options available. To own a .22 Rimfire rifle, you must have a current Fire Arms Certificate (FAC) which you can apply for once you become a full member.

Below are a .177 Air Pistol, Air Rifle and a .22 Rimfire Rifle. It’s important to know that the Target Airguns are limited to under 6ft/lbs power.

Newcomers to target shooting

We operate a Have-a-go 4 week trial where you can have-a-go at Air Pistol, Air Rifle, .22 Rimfire on a Bench Rest and in a Prone Supported position. If you would then like to carry on, we offer a continuation for 5 months as a probationary member. During all this your instruction, use of club equipment, insurance are included in the fee. You will have to purchase your ammunition and targets. 50 rounds of .22 start at £4 and 500 air pellets at £6. Following your Probation period and if your instructors are satisfied with your competence, you can apply for Full membership.

Competitions

We enter NSRA postal competitions as well as County ones in Summer and Winter leagues to suit shooters skill levels. As a club we make up around 66% of the Staffordshire County teams in National inter-county competitions .Usually we send contingencies to County, National and International competitions.  One of our members has medalled at the World Target Sprint Championships. Others shoot for UK, England and Wales.

Our Adopted Charity

We have adopted RADCFR (Rugeley And District Community First Responders) as our ongoing charity. In 2019 we raised £1000 towards a community access defibrillator which now sits proudly on the wall outside the club and was unveiled by our Honorary Vice President Amanda Milling MP.

When we reopen for newcomers why not pop along on a Monday or Wednesday evening 7-9 and see what’s on offer. 

This project successfully funded on 22nd August 2020
