ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS SHEFFIELD BRANCH
We can't do it without support. We are the RSPCA Sheffield and we do what it takes to provide the care, love and compassion to support the most vulnerable dogs and cats in desperate need and be there to support those that care for them. They depend on us for food, vet treatment, warmth, shelter and the expertise it takes to help them. We also provide emergency support to any animal in need until we can find the very best place for them. We proudly work closely with other charities and organisations to be a central hub for animal welfare

0Hello, thanks for stopping by!
We are the RSPCA Sheffield Sheffield Animal Rescue Centre. We promise to do everything we can to keep caring and advocating for some of the most vulnerable animals in the region and beyond.
Increasingly, due to the current crisis in animal rescue, many dogs and cats can stay with us for months, sometimes much longer waiting for a home. They do have their kennels and pens but we want their time with us to be better and more like a home from home. We are already developing a homeroom for the cats and now it's the dogs turn!
We have been trying to raise the funds to make the dream we have for the dogs in our care, come true.
We want to build a dog area on our grounds. At the moment dare we say it's a tad boring, with some grass, fencing and a few bushes.
- We want to develop an area that is wildlife-friendly and sustainable.
- Has a sensory area with lots of interesting smells and scents to sniff through planting.
- A natural climbing area made out of logs, and boulders, with a tunnel to chase the odd ball through.
- A shallow wildlife pond to dip their paws in on a warm summer day.
- There's even somewhere for people to sit and stay a while when they come to meet a furry friend, watching them wag, wiggle and explore.
- It will be a place for dogs to experience things and have fun, that some dogs have never had before. With safe places to hide for the not-so-confident dogs and spaces and places for zoomies!
The amazing people who find it in their hearts to support our Animal Centre (although let's face it, cats are in charge!) know that they are directly supporting the rescue and care of animals in Sheffield and beyond. At the Sheffield Centre, we mainly act as that safe refuge for dogs and cats, but we also act as an emergency intake service, by providing 72-hour support for all sorts of species until an appropriate space for them, for instance at a wildlife centre can be found. Most recently that has included a snake, ferrets, swans and chickens. Our strangest happy ending was supporting the rescue of a very large heavy (don't tell him we said that) lovely pig, from a second-floor flat. He now lives his best life in a sanctuary.
We also pride ourselves in supporting people who care about animals. So we can become involved in helping people with animals who are struggling with for example; illness, domestic violence, homelessness, cost of living and eviction.
Why do so many animals or/and their owners need help?
There is such a wide variety of issues, maybe their owner has died, or someone simply cannot care for them anymore due to the cost of living. There may be domestic violence, long-term illness or sometimes the animal is just not cute enough anymore, or it's grown too big! Or, sometimes they come to us broken due to horrendous cruelty and neglect. They might be starved or injured. To be honest with you it can be tough! So thank you for just taking the time to read this. It means more than you know!
We believe animal's lives are just so important in themselves, and they make such an enormous positive difference to this planet we all share, and that's why we keep going! Would it be too cheesy to say we love every one of them?
About us!
RSPCA Sheffield Animal Rescue Centre is a local, self-funding animal welfare charity and rescue centre open every day of the year for rescue. Despite us running one of the largest animal centres in the country, we are a pretty small team, known for our dedication and commitment to doing all we can to keep rescuing animals! We are proud to be the Sheffield establishment of the RSPCA, helping to end cruelty to animals across the region. It's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our mission is to, by all lawful means, prevent cruelty, promote kindness, alleviate the suffering of all animals, and support the people who care for them. We work together towards this goal both at a local, regional and national level, helping to support improved animal welfare in your area.
The reality
All the animals in our care receive vet treatment, cuddles, a warm bed and food. We never put a healthy animal to sleep and will always do whatever we can to prevent this from happening, however, unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we cannot save every animal and only on the expert advice of a qualified veterinary surgeon and/or animal behaviourist, this is sometimes our only option. We also support people who need help when relinquishing animals into our care, but as importantly try to help prevent people from being unable to care for their pets by providing them with compassionate practical support, advice and signposting to other support services. We take and support enquiries in all aspects of animal welfare. We do not receive any government funding. We raise all of our own funds just to keep going!l
This is Milo :-) after playing in a somewhat muddy area! He's having a much-needed bath. Milo lived his best life after being relinquished by owners who could not afford his vet care. Milo lived his best life until passing over the rainbow bridge.
It's animals like Milo that if you want to help us you will helping them.
