Medical costs at the RSPCA Cat Hub are soaring and cat abandonments are at a three year high, so they need your help to carry on treating and rehoming neglected, abused and abandoned cats and kittens rescued by the RSPCA in the North East.
The RSPCA Cat Hub rehomes more than 250 cats each year, rescued from Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Northallerton and surrounding areas, and is supported by local RSPCA branches.
More emergency treatments and more complex medical conditions pushed up their vet bills by over £10,000 last year, and costs are expected to rise again this year! Can you help fund more emergency and complex vet treatments and help more cats and kittens like Bubble and Squeek, Isaac, Bramble and CeCe and her kittens?
Four week old kittens Bubble and Squeek were rushed to the vets for emergency life-saving treatment when they were found dumped in a tied-up plastic carrier bag with four siblings. They have now been successfully rehomed!
Isaac was rescued as a stray, very ill and in pain with glaucoma. Sadly, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer two months after being rescued, but lived out the remainder of his life with a specialist foster carer, peacefully, well-fed and pain free.
Bramble was rescued by the RSPCA after being stuck in a bush for five days! He was rushed to the vets who found he was almost blind and had high blood pressure. The vets said if they had seen him earlier, his sight could have been saved. Bramble is now being cared for by one of our specialist cat fosterers. He continues to receive treatment from our vets and is on a special diet.
Cece and her two kittens, Geri and Halle, had to be rushed to an out-of-hours vets for emergency treatment after a traumatic birth. They were stabilised, treated and eventually allowed back to their foster home. Feral mum cat CeCe was neutered and returned to her colony, while her kittens were rehomed.
We are very grateful for any help you can give us right now! Thank you!
The RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub cares for more than 300 cats a year. All cats and kittens are given vet treatment, vaccinated, micro-chipped, neutered and treated for fleas and worms while being looked after by a network of volunteer foster carers.
The RSPCA Cat Hub is one of the most successful cat rehoming centres in the country. Based in Darlington and supported by local branches of the RSPCA, the RSPCA Cat Hub is administered by RSPCA Darlington and District Branch.
