Two rowing machines will be used for over 3 days to row the distance to Africa in support of Water Aid
by NUBC in Newcastle upon Tyne
We are in desperate need of more boats for our ever increasing squad sizes so we get everyone on the water. Therefore we are fundraising for a new men's first VIII which will filter down to allow all members of our club access to boats for training and racing. Previous fundraising efforts have included our naked calendar, a 12 hour row and racing a ferry to Amsterdam, but this time, we're really pulling out all the stops!
Our aim is to row from Newcastle upon Tyne to the tip of Africa (2000km!) continuously on two rowing machines to raise money for both our club and for the charity Water Aid. Africa is a continent severely in need of clean drinking water and an area in which Water Aid has a massive effect on the people's lives that it touches. All the money donated will be split between Water Aid and NUBC.*
We will row on two machines continuously through the night for just over 3 days in Newcastle and ATTEMPT TO BREAK 2 WORLD RECORDS in the process (longest continual team row for both 20 to 29 year olds and 19 and under)!
