Route One Soccer helps young people change the trajectory of their lives through the transformative power of football.

 New stretch target

  • Route One launched in 2021, with the aim of identifying ways to harness the ability and passion of young footballers in a harshly deprived area of Tanzania. Over the course of almost 3 years, which have seen many ups and downs, Route One have managed to support hundreds of young kids in various ways; food, water, shelter, and of course, football! Football is unrivalled for connecting people and providing hope and opportunity. Route One aims to alter the trajectory of the lives of young people, using football as a force for change. Football is what our kids absolutely love to do, and why should they be deprived of it? However, in order to play we need to continue providing food, water, medicine and shelter to those who can't otherwise readily access these basics.

Currently, Route One houses 12 young people at a cost of around £300/month.

Food is another crucial outlay. For £10, one child is well-fed for a week.

Equipment costs are a constant battle, particularly as more kids join our group. 2 footballs costs around £18. One full team kit comes to circa £60.

There is also the option to set up a monthly, recurring donation which would provide some security and regularity. To do so, make a one-off donation and then select the monthly option.

Thank you so much for reading!!
