A unique and stunning artwork,which represents the importance of Roughfields for our community and the wildlife that live and hunt here
Who is Heart_murals?
@Heart_murals creates joyful, eye catching artwork in urban areas, breathing life and hope back into communities,through beautiful nature themed creations.
Having recently moved to the Glossopdale area,he has brought his creativity and generosity of spirit with him in the form of colourful art pieces dotted around our local towns and villages. The Badger you see featured in the photo is on a run down, graffitti covered shelter, which is used by our young people. It was constantly being repainted by the council with black paint to remove the offensive words and crude drawings (say no more!)
As a gesture of his commitment to the local community, Heart_murals painted new life into it with sunflowers,a cheeky robin and a badger. He was careful to create a piece of work that reflected it's playground location and would appeal especially to our younger neighbours. Needless to say,it has brought joy into our children's play ground.
Who is Save Roughfields?
Save Roughfields is a community group founded by local residents who are campaigning to preserve the piece of land known locally as Roughfields from development. Roughfields has an important place in the hearts of the community,and the campaign has a large following of dedicated supporters.
What is this project all about?
ThIs exciting project will be a stunning piece of community art. It will depict a beautiful, wild creature known and loved by the local community. It represents the strength of our community in its determination to protect the last remaining piece of this historic parcel of land.
This artwork will put Roughfields firmly on the map as a place for nature and community to exist together in harmony.
Bringing people together through artThe Save Roughfields group are providing moral support to Heart_murals who wants to gift this unique piece of community art to us. The funds being raised will cover expenses for materials such as weather proofing paints, scaffolding/ scissorlift.
To ensure the longevity of the project,there will be a LOT of prep work involved,which Heart_murals will undertake at his own expense.
And afterwards,what happens?
We hope that this project will be just the beginning. We would like to join up with schools and other groups to work on community art projects which teach the importance of Nature and the values it instills in us.
Our Target!
Thank you for helping us bring this idea into reality,we are extremely grateful for any contributions large or small. We are setting our target at £1,600 which will just about cover the very basics of what is needed.
