After 14 years of chaos, instability and 4 Prime Ministers, the country desperately needs a change of government.

As a Kent MP, my work has often focused on our rural communities, our universities, our green spaces, our coast, and the catastrophic effects of Brexit on our area - with tourism and hospitality so central to our economy and the difficulties of keeping businesses going, recruiting agricultural workers to support local food production, and staffing our NHS services.

We need to help those most affected by the soaring costs of living that are forcing working people to turn to food banks; those who cannot afford a decent and safe home; those fleeing from war zones.

We should be ashamed of the way that we as a nation have failed to uphold rights for disabled people, carers, children with additional educational needs, and we should be angry that those skilled and dedicated workers who care for us are not paid enough to afford to buy food or pay their fuel bills. Our rates of child poverty are soaring, and all while those with extreme wealth or so-called ‘non-dom’ tax status continue to grow obscene profits.

It is a huge honour to represent the area that has been my home for 26 years, meeting with constituents weekly and visiting our schools, charities, community groups, hospitals, businesses, food and wine producers and tourist hotspots.

I would love to continue my work in Parliament where I am a member of the EFRA (Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) Select Committee and work on issues ranging from animal welfare to rural mental health, sewage pollution, fisheries, post-Brexit border security to biodiversity and forestry.

Since 2017 I have championed women’s rights and women’s healthcare, from domestic abuse, feminism and sex-based rights, to maternal health.

As Co-chair (and co-founder, with my Conservative colleague Theo Clarke) of the All Party group on Birth Trauma, I was proud that this year we commissioned the first ever birth trauma report in Parliament, written with our expert partners, the Birth Trauma Association. This recently dominated the news headlines and prompted the Secretary of State for Health to adopt our recommendations. We will continue to hold the next Government to account and hope to bring about meaningful change.

I was the first woman, and the first Labour MP to win my previously ‘unwinnable’ seat of Canterbury, Whitstable and the Villages in 2017. I was one of only 4 Labour MPs whose majority increased in the difficult General Election of 2019.

I love my job and am proud to lead an outstanding team who have now opened over 60,000 pieces of casework, meaning we have been able to help many thousands of people across our large constituency.

Please support my campaign fund so that I can continue to fight for you.

Thank you!

Rosie
