Rose Cottage Community Warm Space and Food Hub

Aim

The aim of this project is to provide a warm space and food hub throughout the winter months.

About Us

Rose Cottage Hub is a CIC limited by guarantee with 4 directors, 3 of which are unrelated. The Hub has been going for just over 3 years now. We are located in a highly deprived area with a lot of people faced with financial difficulties does to the rise in cost of living.

Our Idea

We would like to provide a much needed service in the area, by providing people with not only a warm spaces for over the winter but a food hub also. We would like to have breakfast clubs on a few days and hot meals a few times a week where people who need it would have access to a warm space, hot food and drinks, socialisation, access to charging points, books and additional services such as advice and guidance on where and how to get support with crucial things such as cost of living. Ideally we would like to provide this service free of charge or to a very minimal or pay as you feel cost. 

We will be working with working local supermarkets to see if we can access any food that would be wasted that we could take to make in to meals. 

Currently some of our users have been expressing their concerns around the cost of living and how they attend workshops and classes at our hub in order to come in to a warm space and to meet new people and friends and how nice it would be to be able to have a meal with friends. Some of our members often call late in the afternoon just for a cuppa and a chat as they feel isolated so at least they have some company, a lot of our users are over the age of 65 and live alone, now more than ever a service like this is much needed, due to rising costs of living and food. Being able to provide food now as part of the hub will be a fantastic and much needed additional service. 

We will be looking to accommodate 15 people per session so over each week this would be helping at least 75 people.

How we will use the money raised?

We have just recently raised the money to purchase the equipment for the kitchen and so now this money raised will be used to cover rent and electricity, stock, resources and volunteer costs.
