To create a garden for both assisting wildlife and the community by having raised beds for growing things and a zen garden for well-being.
About Us
Rose Cottage Hub is a CIC limited by guarantee with 4 directors, 3 of which are unrelated, there is also a small committee of members of the Hub. The Hub has been going nearly 3 years now and we have some amazing outdoor space that we would now like to make in to a community food and well being garden. We are located in a highly deprived area with a lot of people faced with financial difficulties does to the rise in cost of living. We currently run lots of groups which are well being based with a lot of creative craft sessions, we have an indoor Zen Den which is a space for people to use to just take some time out and chill, and we have recently started to introduce some meditation sessions and aquafit in the pool that is housed in our building also, we do anything to help with well-being and would like to now use the garden to build on the sessions we run and really develop a fantastic outdoor place for all.
Our volunteers and beneficiaries really understand the importance of supporting local wildlife as well as producing foods that we can use during the cost of living crisis.
Our Idea
We want to make some accessible raised beds as we do have a couple of wheelchair users, these would be used for growing food, herbs and flowers which will support our local environment. We have a cafe next door that provides food for some of our sessions and it would great to be able to use some of the foods that we have grown in the garden and run sessions even on making meals with the products that we have grown. We will also be making a zen garden to help with emotional wellbeing of our community.
Our garden will help local wildlife and nature and will boost local biodiversity, we will be creating space for local wildlife to live and grow as well as educating the local community on the importance of wildlife when growing foods and the impact on our environment. We will be connecting people of diverse backgrounds, generations, and abilities to support wildlife and grow food.

What We Will Spend the Money On
We will look to get some professional garden advice to make sure we get the most out of the space that we have available, having a fence built in to the garden to fence off our section, planting trees, creating raised beds, buying and installing a poly tunnel, building a shed and enclosure for the zen garden, selection of plants and gardening tools.
