Raising funds to pay for a fence around our children's allotment plot to keep those little boots safe.
Rooted Community Food has a new allotment plot, just for children! We will be running an after-school club called Roots & Boots and ad hoc weekend sessions for children aged around 4 to 11 years. Our sessions will aim to share a love of growing and eating good food in an unstructured and child-centred environment. We have a double-width polytunnel that we have funds to re-cover and we have an amazing contractor who is providing labour costs for FREE. They have also arranged a huge materials discount with their builder's merchants and we have been the recipients of substantial donations from our local Councillors and local Area Panel. We have just £600 remaining to raise to cover the fencing and polytunnel frame and door repairs but a very short deadline as were are hoping to be ready for sessions to start in April.
We are sharing this video of our mud-kitchen-building session to give our funding contributors an insight into the magic they are helping to create.
