Raising funds to hold a FREE Roman Circus Chariot Day in Colchester, Essex, showing what happened at the Roman Circus nearly 2000 years ago.
Hi,
If you love history, Romans, archaeology, horses or just a good day out then this is the project for you!
This is the first year of our free Roman Circus Chariot Day in Colchester, Essex and we hope it will be the first of a yearly tradition. Nearly 2000 years ago spectators from all over the province of Britannia would have enjoyed this popular sporting event. www.romancircus.co.uk

The Roman Circus Centre is planning a spectacular display - horses pulling a replica chariot made by Time Team as seen on the Time Team Special 19 2005 (Britain's Lost Roman Circus), a talk explaining it all by an eminent archaeologist and lots more besides.
Of course the horses, hay bales for the arena, portable toilets, hire of the land, licences and security all need to be paid for - and this is where we need your help. To keep the event free for the public we need to raise at least £5,000. The more we raise, the more activities can be hired, such as Roman re-enactors etc.,
Any amount you can donate so that we can put on this free event for the public will be gratefully accepted.
Thank you.
