Disabled Young People, aged 16-25 will feel more confident living independently by learning skills to manage their own finances.
Who are we?
Rotherham Community College is a not-for-profit organisation that supports Young People from the ages of 16-25 who have learning and physical disabilities. The College aims to help young people find their place in the community, be independent as possible, find employment and live aspiring lives. The specialist college currently supports 50 students with a wide range of disabilities, 10 of which are on supported internships. The college teaches Young People independent life skills such as travel training, living skills and financial awareness, as well as employability skills, Maths and English which will prepare the Young People to live independently.
The problem:
With the cost-of-living crisis hitting our community it has already started to increase the amount of stress and pressure we are under. For students who have learning disabilities and autism, it is even more important that there is a support network out there to advise and prepare individuals for the difficult months ahead.
What do we want to do?
Rotherham Opportunities College would like to raise money to fund money management workshops during this difficult time.
The workshops would be delivered by professionals on the following topics:
- Budgeting
- Managing bills
- Expenditure
- Preparing for unexpected costs
- Financial support for people with disabilities.
Your support will make a huge difference and enable young people to live independently as possible.
Thank you from all the students at Rotherham Opportunities College.
