Aim: Help us to take part in the finals of the FIRST Tech Challenge UK at the Copper Box Arena, London.
We are a group of year 8 students from Oak Lodge School for the Deaf in London.
This year for the first time we took part in the FIRST Tech Challenge UK.
We built our robot with the support of people from Langley School for Boys in Bromley and the team of FIRST UK.
We also prepared a presentation, made some t-shirts with the Logo that we designed and edited some funny videos.
We then went to the qualifiers, where we met a lot of students, as competitive as we are but also very kind and funny.
We won the Judges Award and showed our work at an assembly. We drove our robot through the hall and everyone was so excited because the robot was carrying the award.
We didn't win the qualifiers but the Judges gave us a Wildcard for the finals because they liked our hard work. That was a surprise!
And now we are preparing for the finals, practising with our robot and trying to raise the funds that we need to cover the costs of going to the finals.
We need your help!
We need to pay for transport, because we come from all over Greater London but cannot use our school taxis as they are shared with other students.
🚐 £350
We need BSL interpreters as we are Deaf students.
🤟 £360
For the qualifiers we made our own team t-shirts with transferable paper. It was great fun and they were very colourful, but after a whole day they were battered and peeling off already. We would like better quality printing.
👕 £250
We also wanted to 3D print keyrings to sell, but one of our 3D printers broke down, so we would like to send it to repair (we want to limit waste and protect the environment).
♻️ £150
Anything beyond this, we would like to put aside for the robotics programme in our school and next year competition.

Thank you, all!
