Who are we?
Richmond & Kew Football Club is a two-star Football England Accredited club, based in Ham, Richmond upon Thames. We have over 500 registered players, with 42 teams, ranging from the age of under 7 to Under 18s and over, Men’s, Women’s, and Girls teams. The club is a member of the Southern Amateur League (SAL), Surrey Youth League (SYL), Surrey South Eastern Combination (SSEC), London & South East Regional Women's League and Epsom and Ewell Youth Football League (EEYFL) Girls Leagues.
We engage and support hundreds of women and girls on a weekly basis through regular training sessions and matches. Our women's team has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the leagues since it's inception in 2021,has enjoyed various cup runs and helped contribute and engage the wider community through football.
Why are we crowdfunding?
As the teams rise through the leagues, the competition has only gotten tougher. We currently compete against the likes of Brentford FC women's and Bromley FC women's teams. The team relies heavily on sponsorship and donations to not only help the current team's running costs but also to support and inspire the next generation of girls to represent us in the future!
How we’ll spend the money raised
Any donations will be put straight back into supporting our women's and girls teams. Helping them to continue to grow and develop! Here's a few of examples of what your generosity will go towards:
- New kit and equipment
- Help improve our changing facilities
- Promotional materials to help us inspire even more women and girl's.
- National and international tours. A chance to create lifelong memories for our players and help spread the word even further!
- Support those in need. We understand the barriers that some may face to participating in grassroots football, your donations will help us to support those facing those barriers and help us to continue fostering an inclusive environment.
Community impact
Here's a few quotes from those already at the club to really highlight the difference we're making:
"Richmond & Kew has been one of the biggest parts of my life over the last 3 years. It is not just a place to play football, it is where I have grown as both a player and person.
Being promoted twice in 3 years is a side product of a well-oiled friendship, togetherness and camaraderie in the squad. We all experience difficult times outside of football, and with the squad and coaching staff we have here it makes it that little bit easier to offload.
Every single person in the squad has contributed in some way to the setup of the team on a voluntary basis to help it succeed. The passion for the future state of not only our club but for women's and girls football as a whole is undeniable.
As a longstanding member, I've seen the club and squad evolve and it fills me with pride to have contributed to that journey. Being Captain is a true honour and leading the team has deepened my connection with everyone. This squad has cemented our role in the club's legacy, leaving trophies in the cabinet and titles to shout about.
I have recently taken on a board member role at the club, working alongside my full-time job to help build the future of Women's and Girls football at RKFC. There is so much to progress and to build on the existing set up to enhance the future of the player's careers, it's an exciting time.
It's not just about the matches we win, it's about the camaraderie, the friendships, and the memories we make together." Rosie - Head of Women's and Girls Football/RKFC Women's Captain
"I joined RKFC Women when it was first formed. I was ready to hang up my boots after a difficult time at another club and be done with football.
I'd lost all confidence in myself and was slowly losing love for the game.
After joining the team, it didn't take long to find myself as a player again. It's been an amazing journey with them both on and off the pitch, and the squad has become my 2nd family.
The love and care everyone has for each other is so important. I was struggling last year with my mental health and found it difficult to get myself to training or games, but the squad was there to pull me out of a pretty low place. I know when my time comes that I need to walk away from playing, I'll have finished my footballing career in an extremely happy place and can continue with the club through coaching the girls teams, in hopes they can one day also be part of the women's team/family."
