We're still collecting donations
On the 30th August 2024 we'd raised £16,528 with 151 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Our swimming pool and hot water rely on air-sourced heating. We desperately need a gas boiler to prevent pool closure this winter (again)!

On the 30th August 2024 we'd raised £16,528 with 151 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our 'Heat Waves' project is set to cost the charity £60,000 (estimated).
Sport England have pledged to support us with £7,500 from their Movement Fund BUT we have to raise £7,500 in order to receive this. So EVERY £1 pledged will be worth £2 to us!
Any extra money that we receive will go towards reducing the contribution from GCLT towards the works and will be put into providing a progressive replacement plan for the faulty, undersized equipment.
Founded in 2009, GCLT Ltd. has been providing leisure activities for the population of North Dorset across our two sites, RiversMeet Active and RiversMeet Performance. We operate as a standalone, not-for-profit, charitable trust and we have done so for the last 15 years!
We need to raise money to invest in a new heating system to back up the air sourced heat pumps that are prone to failure at low temperatures. The best way to do this is through crowdfunding because it gives us the opportunity to multiply what we raise through matched funding from Sport England and the Dorset UK shared prosperity fund.
Closing the swimming pool in the winter months due to heating system failure threatens the viability of the whole charity and therefore all of the benefits and social value that RiversMeet delivers across the community.
Our current air sourced heat pump installation, is overly complex and undersized at sub- 8 degree temperatures. Gas is the most reliable heating source at low temperatures. That is why we need to install a Gas boiler ready for this winter to deal with low outside temperatures and mechanical breakdowns.
Our present estimation of costs is £60,000.
We hope to raise:
£15,000 through crowd funding (£7500 matched by Sport England's Movement fund & the National Lottery).
£15,000 Dorset Prosperity fund: SECURED!
The remaining amount will be from our limited reserves.
RiversMeet Active and RiversMeet Performance work in harmony to meet the demands of the local population from learn to swim, through to exercise referrals working with the NHS and many more activities under the "Health and Wellbeing" umbrella.
Both sites together see over 18,000 visits per month from all ages and demographics. There is no doubt that the sites offer real tangible social value and play a huge part in fostering the community's metal, physical and social wellbeing.
Q: Why are you crowdfunding a boiler when you have just built a new gym?
A: As a standalone charity to remain competitive we have to invest in all aspects of the business when we need to and by using the best available sources. In simple terms the boiler gives us sustainability and the gym gives us growth.
Q: I don’t use the Swimming pool, why should I donate?
A: RiversMeet Active and RiversMeet Performance are one holistic business, failure of one part threatens the entire enterprise.
Q: Will this fix the problem in the long term?
A: After thorough investigation into our heating system, a gas boiler is the most viable short term option. In the long term we hope to remove reliance on gas and continue on our path towards net-zero.
Q: What happens to my donation if the target isn’t reached?
A: All funds donated will go to RiversMeet towards the Gas boiler project.
There are three simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
