Aim: RISE aims to empower residents to achieve long term sustained recovery from substance misuse while preparing them for independent living.
Our aim is to open up a new 8 bedroom supported housing provision in the Portsmouth area but first let me tell you a bit about who we are.
Rise Houses CIC is a small housing provision within the Portsmouth area which has supported many people to achieve sustained recovery and a new life they thought was impossible to live.
Within the Portsmouth area there are many services which support people to tackle their addiction issues but we noticed the need for abstinence based accommodation, a safe space, a home for individuals to really start their recovery journey.
We opened our first house 4 years ago as a not for profit, specialist community project, and have helped scores of people to move forward in their recovery journey.
Within our service our residents can benefit from intensive 1-1 support with an allocated keyworker, group work with an addiction counsellor, workshops, advice & guidance from a Health and wellbeing practitioner, mindfulness and other alternative therapies, peer led and other psycho-social activities.
We have close working relationships with many local organisations, services, agencies and mutual aid groups. In addition to this we help our residents to access education, voluntary work and eventually paid work, so our residents have everything they need to start their recovery journey, all in one building.
By design, many of our staff have lived experience of the recovery journey and we feel they are best placed to understand and help our residents with their early recovery struggles.
We currently have 24 beds allocated to residents in recovery but unfortunately we have to turn away desperate people weekly as we simply dont have the rooms.
Our hope would be to provide 16 more rooms within the next six months. This would mean we would be offering a safe place for 40 individuals in recovery within the Portsmouth area.
