Rio Ferdinand Foundation
Set up by Rio Ferdinand in 2012, the Foundation creates opportunities and pathways for young people to achieve their potential through sports, media, arts, and education. Through our work, we empower young people (aged 10 - 25 years) to take control of their lives, become socially mobile and drive social change.

We create opportunities and pathways for young people to tackle inequality, drive social change, and realise their potential.
Having grown up in a single-parent family on a council estate in Peckham, South London, Rio set up the Foundation to support young people facing the same issues of inequality that he had experienced in his own childhood.
Supporting and empowering young people from working-class communities, tackling racism and inequality, and providing opportunities and pathways to deliver social mobility and realise personal potential were, and remain, the cornerstones of our work.
Our work delivers support under four strategic themes:
- Safe Spaces for young people
- Health and Wellbeing
- Strong, Safe & Inclusive Communities
- Progression, Skills & Employability.
Since 2012, the Foundation has worked hard to dispel limiting beliefs in society. Now working in communities across the UK and Ireland, we have supported over 14,000 young people to tackle the inequality they face in their lives and realise their own potential.
With your support, we can empower young people to tackle inequality and drive change in their communities. Together, we can work towards our vision of a more equitable world where all young people have the self-belief, skills and support to achieve their potential.
