Ringmer Memory Cafe

Aim

Ringmer Memory Cafe supports the local community by supporting people with Dementia/Alzheimers and their Carers.

My name is Margaret and my husband Ray was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2020. We found support in the Memory Cafe in Ringmer which was run by a charity which has now collapsed due to funding being withdrawn.

I, together with two other carers, Vicki and Kate have now formed a voluntary group to keep the Ringmer Memory Cafe alive so we can still meet up every Thursday for tea biscuits chats and entertainment as social interaction is so important.

We charge a £2.50 fee each week which covers the basics but we need to fundraise to provide entertainment. Having people to come and sing is a great form of music therapy especially with people with dementia and Alzheimer’s and although we know we may not be able to provide this every week, through crowdfunding all donations would go towards providing it possibly monthly.

Any support to put a smile on our loved ones faces and bring them back into todays world just for a couple of hours by song or dance would be fantastic and very much appreciated. Thanks for reading.
