Aim

Organising a fun and social bike ride London to Glasgow ahead of UN climate talks to help inspire the action that the climate crisis demands

Join our fun and social Bike Ride from London to Glasgow ahead of COP26 to inspire climate action and show our commitment to a low-carbon future.

Dates: 24th - 31st October 2021.

Number of people: targeting 100 riders per day.

Distance: An average of 65 miles a day for 7.25 days.

Accommodation: Riders will need to arrange their own accommodation and get themselves to the start line each day. We'll provide a list of recommendations.

Luggage: If you get yourself to the start line we'll take care of your bags each day.

Food: We'll provide lunch each day.

Route: Won't be marked but everyone will get the GPS and we will have ride leaders and a supportive group looking our for each other. Let's enjoy the ride, it's not a race.

The ride is managed by Brake the Cycle and Adventure Uncovered and so will be fully licensed and insured.

Price: £350 = full 7 day ride, £60 = day ticket.

How a bike ride can inspire more climate action:

  • Riders will uniquely raise sponsorship in climate actions through the Do Nation platform.
  • The ride will highlight positive climate action solutions, projects and groups on the route.
  • We will highlight and support campaigns and advocacy ahead of the UN Climate Talks.
  • We will build a community of climate champions, and to show our communities and leaders just how important and achievable climate action is.

What's included:

All tickets include:

  • Group start checkpoint and welcome home at day's end.
  • Cycle route provided in GPS.
  • Bag transport from start to finish line.
  • Back-up support vehicle, running repairs on route.
  • Lunch (packed lunch or café meal).
  • Accommodation is not included but we will provide a list of recommended hotels and hostels for each leg (and hopefully some discounts). You have the freedom to choose your accommodation but expect many cyclists to group together in one or two hotels.
  • Ride WhatsApp group and Strava club.
  • We will have volunteer ride group leaders but be aware this is essentially a self supported ride.
  • Personal climate action pledge page on the Do Nation platform
  • Ride cap and number.
  • Professional photos.

Business Packs also include:

  • Impact report showing impact of climate pledges made in support of your riders
  • Business name listed in ride materials and press releases
  • Comms pack including ride photos and videos for you to share internally

If you have any questions about the business packs, or would like to order a combination not listed in the rewards, please contact our partners at Do Nation.

What's not included:

  • You arrange your own accommodation. We've created a ride route via cities and so there are lots of accommodation options making the ride more accessible. We will share a list of recommendations.
  • Getting your bike and luggage from a station or hotel to the start line and from the finish line.
  • Dinners, breakfasts, snacks, drinks, beers, inner tubes etc. anything that's not your lunch.

How it started:

A group of individuals in the environmental services and advocacy industry got together in January 2020 to organise a big, not for profit, social bike ride from London to Glasgow for the UN climate talks, COP26.1628867784_logos.jpg

Covid scuppered some early plans; hotels and accommodation became a challenge and threw our pricing model off. But we refused to let the idea go.

We know we can do it - and we think enough people want to get involved but we needed a risk-free ticket model.

Solution. A crowd funder. If we get enough riders and sponsors, we do it. If we don’t we don’t. Nobody loses. Price is £350 for the full 7 day ride, £60 for a day ride with varying rewards for businesses and sponsorship.
