Who are we?
Rice Lane City Farm has been established for over 40 years. We occupy the site of the old Walton cemetery where we have 24 acres of fields and woodland.
You will find many of the usual farmyard animals here, most of which are very friendly. These include UK native and rare breeds such as Ryeland sheep and Berkshire pigs.
Our woodland walk is a great opportunity to see and hear wildlife that you might not encounter elsewhere in Liverpool and all the paths on the site are wide enough for wheelchairs and buggy's, please be aware though that some paths are unmade so can be a bit muddy in bad weather.
At busy times we have a volunteer-staffed tearoom in the Old Chapel.
Community impact
During school holidays we offer free hot meals and activities for children, ensuring that any child who may get free school meals, still gets something to eat. All the meals we make are fresh and include a range of vegetables, to help growing children!
We have a volunteer program too! This allows anyone to be a part of something bigger than any of us, new friendships form, new skill sets develop, and fresh air and sunlight helps improve mental health. Our volunteers range from high school students to retirees, all working together!
Why are we crowdfunding?
It costs a lot to run a site based on an old cemetery!
We want to keep running and develop more groups and activities for everyone; but unfortunately, things cost money. We want everything to be free or low cost, to not exclude anyone who may be having financial difficulties.
How we’ll spend the money raised
More and better playschemes to host more of the local community
