Revolting Artists Accessibility Lift

Aim

We want to make the Revolting Artists Exhibition as accessible as possible, so that everyone has the opportunity to view the exhibition.

WHO ARE WE? - We’re Revolting Artists! 

Revolting Artists is a loose and evolving collective of urban and subversive artists from around the UK, and further-a-field, who produce work in a variety of disciplines including graphic design, painting, public art, murals, performance poetry, photography and music.

Our mission is to create a grass roots art scene in Weymouth whilst shining a spotlight on local and international artists whose work embodies social commentary or has a subversive edge. The dream is to put Weymouth on the alternative culture map!

Revolting Artists Ltd is a registered not for profit company, with all profit being put back into ongoing cultural events based in Weymouth.

THE PROBLEM

Revolting Artists do not own or operate Saint Nic's Gallery where our event is hosted. Saint Nics Gallery is a former light industrial space, which was converted into a "multi disciplinary art space featuring gallery, exhibition and performance area and a recording studio" by the owner in 2022. Sadly at this time no provisions to make the building accessible were installed.

Revolting Artists have tried to work with the building owner to make our events as accessible as possible to all. Unfortunately the building owner is unable, at this time, to install permanent provisions to make the building accessible.

Revolting Artists have been unable to secure specific funding and are not in a financial position, to cover the costs of installing a temporary wheel chair lift and so we need your help.

THE SOLUTION

Revolting Artists can hire a temporary wheel chair lift to ensure our event is open to all, unfortunately this is a specialist bit of kit and the hire company are based in the north of England, and so transport costs are high. 

HOW WILL WE SPEND YOUR MONEY?

We need to raise £1140.00, this is broken down as follows...

£230 delivery  (driver time Manchester to Weymouth return)

£490 hire charge

£230 collection

Revolting Artists are firm believers that art is for all. We try and offer as much as we can for free to ensure there are no barriers to participation. To do this we can't always choose the perfect building to host our events, unfortunately this is one of the down sides to using former light industrial spaces... But there is a solution and you can be part of it.
