Help fund the second year of Revoice! Magazine
As Revoice! Magazine approaches its first year anniversary, we're inviting you to support our second year online by contributing to the website renewal costs
the story so far...
In November 2016, Revoice! Magazine launched online. The aim was to create a music magazine that stretched boundaries and amplified the voices of young emerging musicians and their creative projects alongside those of more established figures. Instead of limiting the magazine to one historical period or genre of music, we decided to shift the focus to approach; and so a magazine ‘written for and by musicians who engage critically and creatively with history’ was born. The project founder Fatima Lahham built a website from a template on a Squarespace domain, put out a call for submissions through newly-launched Facebook and Twitter accounts, and curated and edited Issue 1.
Ten months later, Revoice! is nearly a year old, with Issue 5 on the way (out on Sept 25th). Issues 1-4 have proved that Revoice! Magazine attracts a thriving international readership: in February 2017 alone we received 16,217 page visits and 19,660 page views, with contributions coming in from all over Europe, the USA, and Canada. In March 2017 we published an exclusive interview with internationally acclaimed conductor Marin Alsop and collaborated with Oneworld Publications in a giveaway for our readers. We also now regularly receive book and CD copies to review, as well as review tickets to concerts. Revoice! is still entirely put together, edited, and maintained by Fatima Lahham, with the help of Anthea Conway-White.
So far, Revoice! Magazine’s success has proved that it fills a much-needed space in the market. We have already been endorsed by several leading musicians and featured in Early Music Magazine and the National Early Music Association Newsletter as well as Dutch magazine Blokfluitist.
The magazine attracts a really wide readership: from those working professionally in the field of ‘early music’, to specialists in non-Western musics, to amateur musicians, to the general reader with an interest in music.
The website is currently entirely free to access and will remain so as a unique resource for musicians worldwide. However while Revoice! runs on the goodwill of musicians all over the world, sadly Squarespace does not!
In order to renew the website for a second year, we are asking anyone who has enjoyed the magazine so far to make a small donation to contribute to the Squarespace subscription fee. In return, you and others will continue to enjoy another year of Revoice! Magazine as it develops, as well as receiving one of selection of personalised thank you poems...
