Aim
Our wood that we use for outdoor activities has been destroyed by illegal motorised use. We wish to make it safe & revive the woodland
- Who are we?
I'm Duncan, and last year myself and my colleague Scott started our Not for profit, Community Interest Company, Let's Get Out C.I.C. Our aim is to engage as many people young and old with the great outdoors. Allowing people to gain all the benefits that come with being outdoors, better physical and mental wellbeing, connecting with others and the community, and having a better appreciation of the natural world. 
Our goal and aim.
In January 2021 we secured 11 acres of woodland in Kelvedon Hatch, Essex to use for our projects. We can only use less than half this wood currently, due to years of destructive unauthorised criminal motorised vehicle use, which has ruined much of the woodland.
Our aim is to secure the woodland with fencing and gates, preventing any further damage, level off the deep tracks left by the unauthorised vehicles, regenerate the damaged woodland with a program of replanting native plant and tree species, and adding a wildlife pond.
This will allow us to expand our offerings of engaging people from all walks of life with the great outdoors. Giving us the opportunity to increase the amount of people using the woods by at least three fold, and all of this will be done whilst improving the woodland, reinstating a balanced natural environment, and improving the environmental awareness of people, especially the young.
This project will also allow us to open up to younger age groups and make the woodland more accessible for people with disabilities.
We have been working with and being supported by the Green Lane Association, who work to protect the UK's network of unsurfaced roads, educate all users in legal and responsible use of the countryside, and fund community projects on public rights of way. What do we need to achieve these goals?
We need to fence the area (approx. 1km of fencing) to prevent further damage and make the whole area safe, including at least two gated areas for future woodland management access.
Mechanical plant hire to repair damaged areas and allow levelling off of criminal damage, reinstating woodland drainage and removing compaction.
Two storage containers for equipment and tools.
This is where we really need your help, the sooner we can get started, the sooner we can work with nature to restore the woodland, improve the environment and more allow people to gain the benefits.
