Tides is our new online bereavement support group providing emotional support to parents of loss regardless of geographical location.
Reuben’s Retreat is a registered charity in the North West of England. We were born out of the loss of Reuben Michael Graham at just 23 months old from an inoperable brain tumour. We were launched just 2 days after his death on the 23rd August 2012 and our mission is to relieve the distress of families who have suffered the loss of a child or have a child suffering from a complex illness. Our special number is the number 23, as Reuben’s family had him for an amazing 23 months and we were launched on the 23rd of the month. Our vision is to walk side-by-side, offering emotional and practical support to families of child loss or those that have a child who is complexly poorly and may face an uncertain future. Enabling them to create memories cocooned in the sanctuary of Reuben’s Retreat underpinned by our army of love and compassionate hearts. We provide peer led monthly support groups, meditation evenings, weekend rambles and one to one counselling for parents as well as regular music & animal therapy, bespoke memory making events and respite breaks for children with additional needs and complex illness. We are a small team of just eight full-time staff with an army of volunteers.
We are seeking funding for one of our new initiatives, an online peer support group for families of child loss, Tides. This group will help families across the UK start to remember and rebuild after the loss of their child.
