Aim

We are working to raise £10,000 to complete the restoration of our Monoloco steam monorail engine.

Since 2017 we have been the permanent home for the Richard Morris collection, the largest collection of industrial monorail equipment in the UK including over 70 engines and a large number of wagons, each of the engines carrying the name of the place where it originally operated. A 500 metre round circuit allows us to operate demonstration trips and passenger rides on open days. The Monoloco in action.

The Monoloco is the only operating monorail steam engine in the world, seen here under steam at it's original location

The engine will be the centrepiece of a complete project with a dedicated running line and rebuilt carriages so that members of the public and visitors to the TVLR can enjoy the Monoloco in all of it's glory. Several major stages have already been completed and this crowdfunding will enable us to carry out the final reassembly of the track and to finish the carriages.

CURRENT STATUS OF THE PROJECT

  •  The engine has been stripped and the boiler removed.
  •  The boiler has been reconditioned and successfully pressure tested.
  • A new workshop has been created to house the Monoloco and also to build new carriages on the original frames.
  • A running line exclusively for the Monoloco has been marked out from the new workshop.

This project successfully funded on 29th March 2024
