Replenish Refill Store in Hertford

Aim

To provide a zero waste refill shop in Hertford, enabling the community to move towards a more sustainable way of living.

I have recently formed a social enterprise; Replenish Refill Store CIC (Community Interest Company) . The company's mission is to provide the residents of Hertford with a zero waste shop. 

Zero waste shopping is a great way to move towards sustainability. Bringing your own reusable containers;  filling with the quantities you need, and paying for the products you've dispensed.  This offers sustainable produce, reduced packaging and less food waste; a positive move for the environment.

We were delighted when the survey we conducted this year prompted a positive response from so many of you, who want to shop waste free in Hertford.

I have been a Hertford resident all my life and love this beautiful town and the surrounding countryside. I am very worried about climate change and the destructive impact humans have on the planet.  I want to contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come. 

I would like to give local people the opportunity to move towards a more green way of living. Like many people I am concerned with the amount of waste we produce. 

In our zero waste refill shop you will be able to:-

Buy store cupboard foods by filling your own containers ... Buy herbs and spices by weight without packaging ... Buy 10 grams or 1000 grams - tailor your quantities to the amount you need...  Buy sustainable accessories for your zero waste life, such as toiletries and cleaning products ...

We have heard from many local people who care passionately about the environment and would like to live more sustainably.  The answer is a zero waste shop in Hertford.

How can you help?

We need your help to buy zero waste specialist equipment to fit out the store. Your contributions will allow us to buy gravity dispensers, which allow hygienic and accurate measurement - the greater the number of dispensers we have the more products we can offer. Weighing scales enable precise measuring so you only pay for what you need, and a till system which will allow speed and accuracy when paying for your goods. 

Replenish Refill Store will fund the shop fitting, business set-up costs and stock. 

What will we sell? 

We will stock a wide selection of products, focusing on things that can't be purchased package free in other local shops. This will include:-

• cereals 
• pulses, beans, grain
• nuts and seeds
• tea and coffee
• dried fruit
• herbs and spices 
• Toiletries
• Cleaning refills 
• Zero waste home and lifestyle products

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), we have pledged to make 50% of our profits available for local environmental projects, sustainability projects and relevant educational workshops within the community, including schools and colleges. We will also provide mentoring for a range of individuals during work experience and work placements within the shop.

This is a project to engage the local community and inspire them to make positive lifestyle choices  Replenish Refill Store will be a social enterprise providing a refill store in Hertford for the years to come.

Our crowdfunder is all or nothing; this means we will only receive the pledge monies if we reach our total target of £6516.

Being able to start the business debt free will allow us to keep our prices competitive and enable us to reinvest profits directly back into the business.
