To cover repair costs of an active speaker that has recently blown. To raise funds to buy an amp to power a passive stage wedge monitor.
So many of us have enjoyed the most excellent, creative, fringe scene that has been simmering underground here in St Leonards over the last 10 years. A great number of these gigs and events have been made possible with the use of Alison Cooper's Mackie PA system, quite a familiar little set up with a great sound.
Recently one of the speakers finally gave up the ghost and is now awaiting repairs locally. Being an active speaker, which means it has a built in amplifier, it can be tricky and costly to get it repaired with the correct Mackie parts and so on. It may be the case that we have to find a whole replacement speaker off ebay.
Whatever happens, we need to raise cash quickley so that we can get the PA up and running again for all the various gigs that depend on it.
In addition to the main speaker there is a wedge monitor speaker that needs an amplifier, plus a number of cables and accessories need renewal.
The estimated costs are as follows ...
Repair or replace Mackie active speaker £200
Buy a secondhand rackmounted amplifier for the wedge speaker £150
Relacement leads £150
Previous gigs include the Outragous Decedance New Years Eve parties, the wonderful basement of Borough Wines, The Observer Building, Gotham Alley, The Stade, The Roomz, Cave gallery, Seaview Project, Hastings Brazilian Festival and countless others. Quite a workhorse!
