Founded by Augustinian canons in 1229, Michelham Priory is steeped in history. The main building showcases fascinating displays of furniture and artefacts reflecting its 800-year history, whilst the grounds are surrounded by England’s largest continual moat, together covering seven acres of beautiful gardens and stunning buildings.
With challenging economic conditions being felt right across the heritage sector, our role as a guardian of Sussex’s heritage is becoming increasingly difficult. You can help us undertake important conservation work, enhancing the experience for all who visit and safeguarding these wonderful properties for future generations to enjoy.
We specifically need your help so we can carry out vital repairs to the roof of the beloved Dovecote Shop.
The Friends of Michelham Priory have generously pledged to donate £2,500 towards the work, but we need your support to raise more, and ensure the work can be completed - enabling us to increasingly showcase local, Sussex produce and make this an even more compelling place to come and visit.

“The committee of the Friends of Michelham Priory have pledged £2,500 to this campaign - with the hope that this will double to £5,000. These monies will go towards essential repairs to our Dovecote shop roof.
By giving generously to this campaign you will be helping us to keep the Priory open for everyone to enjoy. A tranquil and revitalising walk through our gardens is an escape from the hubbub of everyday life; or maybe it's somewhere safe for the children to let off steam. The shop roof will cost far more than this target, so the Friends of Michelham Priory are engaging in additional fundraising campaigns of our own - with a focus on reaching out to our local community in order to increase awareness and, hopefully, Friend’s memberships.”
