Who are WFGS

We are Wyre Forest Gymnastic School, fondly known as WFGS by our members. We are a Not-for-Profit Company that have been inspiring gymnasts in Kidderminster and the surrounding areas since 1987.

Ann Combes founded the club, with just a couple of mats in Stourport Sports Centre.  In 2010 we moved in to our current premises and have seen hundreds of gymnasts pass through our doors on a weekly basis.

Over the years our club has been a place of joy and laughter - a fun, welcoming space for both children and adults. We offer classes for toddlers, pre-school right through to adults.  We are a facility that not only helps improve physical wellbeing, but also mental health.

We have grown from a handful of gymnasts to over 400, with 15 coaches and 25 classes per week. We have many parents who were gymnasts with us and now bring their own children, along with adults taking part in our adult class who have fond memories of gymnastics with us as a child.

We really are a community hub with Zumba taking place in our dance studio and the local Ju Jitsu club hiring our facilities, Nihon Ju Jitsu. 

Why We Need Your Help?

At WFGS, we are pleased to provide affordable gymnastics classes for all our members. However, this means we struggle to often replace/repair old equipment or buy any new exciting equipment for our members.  Our landing pit which is used by all of our members is over 12 years old and is vital to the development of advanced gymnastic skills.  The pit as we fondly refer to it is in desperate need of repair, Gymnova the service provider have said in a recent Service Report, Do Not Use!! The foam needs replacing along with the cover and mats we use to aid landing in the pit. We are also in desperate need of new blocks, we use these to help teach skill progressions to the gymnasts and they are ideal for the coaches to use to aid supporting to help keep the gymnasts safe. 

How Your Donations Will Be Spent

At WFGS we endeavour to invest for the benefit of all our members, and therefore, we believe investing in the pit repair and new landing mats for use in the pit will be a fantastic asset for everyone in the club. 

Any left over funds will be spent on new coaching blocks which are used by the members and ideal for the coaches to stand on to support the gymnasts to keep them safe.

WFGS In The Community

We have been based in Kidderminster for over 30 years, many people know of us and what we do.  We have links with local schools, weekly Zumba classes, we have housed a cheerleading club and currently a Ju Jitsu club.
