Hele Bowl is Torquay’s only skate facility and is not owned by the council, it has been vandalised and the surface damaged by fire
When built Hele bowl was around £60,000 , it has been neglected , forgotten and vandalised .
The local community partnership which owns it and skate community are hoping to breath new life into the bowl by repairing , re painting and re landscaping the surrounding area with a view to possibly incorporating a play area and or extending the park if and when the improvements re ignite user groups . With skateboarding in the Olympics next year their is sure to be a new generation encouraged pick up skateboards ,bmx or scooters and give them a try. This is a Torquay’s only skate park facility.
Hele bowl is not owned by the council and Torbay council have said they have no funds available to repair it
Initial removal of the current surrounding fence will increase visibility , encourage new users and along with other improvements around the football pitches deter anti social behaviour.
