ABOUT US
Cricket (1860) and football (1933) have been present at St Johns Green for many years. Our sports charity was formed in January 2024. It took over a site which had been run into hardship and had a building which was no longer in functional use. We have leaking roofs from storm damage, broken windows from vandelism and outdated services within the building.
Our partners at site include Percy Main Cricket Club, Percy Main Amatuers Football Club and we have just partnered with a new boxing and kick boxing club.
THE CHARITY
The trustees of the charity have very simple aims:
- Increase the use case at the site and bring more sport to Percy Main
- Increase contact and participation with the local community so more people can get involved
- Keep sport as affordable as possible so that no person will be exclude from participation on financial grounds
- Provide the best facilities possible to ensure sport is available and accessible to as many people from the community 365 days a year.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO DO?
To assist us in achieving our long term goals we need to bring the pavilion building back into functional use for a period of 3 years while we plan and seek funding for a longer term redevelopment. We want to try and raise £10,000 to help us with repairs and works to make the building water tight and safe for use. The building has changing rooms and toilets which must be fully functional in order to support the activities on the field.
