We're raising funds so we can rehearse and perform a production highlighting the blurry loopholes of dyslexia rooted within education system
Render has hit a new milestone. Supported by the New Diorama Broadgate and Horton Theatre under their Cultivate programme, No Eye Deer will rehearse and performance in Horton Theatre June. This show will launch No Eye Deer Collective into the theatre making industry so any support you can give, donation or a share, will be greatly appreciated and will go towards our company development in the future.
We have received advice/support from individuals at Theatre Deli, Arts Admin and specialists in Dyslexia around the UK. We've also been Short listed for DSPLA Storymakers Residency 2022. We have been running workshops in schools and interviewing people with dyslexia to further the development of the piece. Were on the cusp of something magical, but we need your help.
Quentin is dyslexic. Does he know? No.
Quentin is alienated. Does anyone care? Not Really.
Quentin is overwhelmed. Will anyone help? If they must.
Quentin wants a future. Will he realise it? If people wake up.
Quentin wants to make his mark. Can he? That's out of his hands.
Quentin is demanding people listen. Will anyone listen? No.
Quentin wants justice. Will he act? Yes.
Render will be an exploration of existence in the blurry loopholes rooted in the education system. Text and reading is the benchmark for intelligence in the current archaic one-size-fits all education system, but is this really teaching you skills for life or even teaching you how to learn? People are inherently different, we process differently, think differently, we feel differently, we see the world differently and we all end up in different places in the future.
Only 3% of people see dyslexia as anything other than a disadvantage.
This devised theatre production would be an epic celebration of uniqueness delving into the daily struggles of existence with dyslexia in a neurotypical world. We want to unlock the subtle, specific yet monumental differences in daily life and tap into the hidden struggles and strengths that individuals with dyslexia possess. How can we support and unlock the potential within dsylexic individuals and what barriers are in the way? Tapping into the stigmas and structures that can relentlessly wear individuals down and send them spiralling into a life of not releasing their true potential.
We want to spotlight dyslexia because it’s often swept under carpet, with huge consequences on people's lives.
We are keen to explore the altered interconnection between perception of time, dyslexia and the imagination accentuated by a sonic and visual landscape.
