Release the 'Dragon' @ Alphabetti Theatre

Aim

This is the culmination of an exciting international collaboration to show Newcastle homegrown, truly magical, cutting edge puppet theatre.

Puppetry in the UK is a small industry, and most of the really amazing stuff happens in London. The mad thing about that is that with puppetry you can create entire worlds that would be prohibitively expensive to do in human scale with live performers! When an amazing show can fit in a tiny box instead of a huge lorry it should be made anywhere! Right?

Dragon is exactly this. Its a home grown piece of theatre created by my geordie self and my international collaborator Chloe Flockart from Perth Australia with a team of amazing local creatives.

We have taken the best inspiration from award winning international puppetry and have put it together here in Newcastle. 

So where do you come in? 

Well there's been a lot of interest in this work since we developed it over a year ago and had to step back due to Covid and lockdowns. The marvelous Alphabetti Theatre would like to program it for their 2022 spring season. Which is great! (and is where YOU can see it!)

BUT. Its not quite finished! We are at 80% and just need that final 20% to take Dragon from the strong prototype to the world beating Homegrown magical adventure we know it can be!

Any funds you contribute will go towards the costs of giving workshops to young people who come to see the show and helping us get national and international programmers involved.
